Peninsula City

A transformational development for Sierra Leone

Peninsula City is emerging on a spectacular, 640-acre ocean-fronting site at Big Water, just south of Freetown, Sierra Leone. It will be developed as a Joint Venture between Peninsula Group Limited and the Government of Sierra Leone, represented by the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.

The focal point of Peninsula City is a luxury hotel, tourist resort and marina, linked to a secure conference facility and performing arts centre. Peninsula City will also accommodate a business hotel, retail mall, medical polyclinic, sports centre, spa, business and professional offices, municipal services and sustainable upper and mid-level housing.

The employees of Peninsula City and the local villagers of Big Water will be provided with sustainable affordable housing, job training, the services of the medical polyclinic, a community centre and a modern market.

A second centre within Peninsula City is Peninsula University—a vocational training institution committed to stimulating employment, enterprise creation and economic diversification in core sectors across the nation. Peninsula University will contain the Gemstone School of Sierra Leone, teaching the cutting and polishing of locally-mined diamonds, goldsmithing, gemmology and the design, manufacture and marketing of jewellery. Other departments will include the Peninsula School of Hospitality, Sierra Leone School of Apparel and Peninsula School of Nursing.

Peninsula University graduates will become the accredited craftsmen, service providers, managers and entrepreneurs of the future for Sierra Leone in those areas where the nation’s rich natural resources are most able to add value to the national economy.

In its design, infrastructure, construction and operations, Peninsula City applies today’s expertise, experience and advanced technology to ensure that the beauty and ecological integrity of this pristine region is respected, preserved and enhanced.

A Feasibility Study undertaken in by W Hospitality Group demonstrates an investors’ IRR of 20.7% for the Project and states:

“Peninsula City has the potential to become one of the most significant and important tourism developments in West Africa.”

Peninsula City is regarded by the Government of Sierra Leone as a flagship development for the nation. It will serve as a benchmark for the responsible and sustainable growth of tourism, urban planning, training and business across the country.

Peninsula City is a Quadruple Bottom Line Investor:
